President Solih emphasizes importance of productive youth

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday said that the current administration aims to create opportunities for the youth to develop various skills and crafts and build generations of productive youth.

President Solih made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the first-ever international art festival in the Maldives, called the "Faruma – International Youth Art Festival 2023".

President Solih highlighted the contributions and invaluable services of past artists and talented artisans, noting that the country's rich history is a testament to their outstanding creativity and skilled artisanship. He also noted the exemplary craftsmanship of coral stone carvers, lacquer artisans, carpenters, and boatbuilders.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih said that "true creativity is built upon human resources in various disciplines integral to national development". He further added that nations are made with the help of modern advancements through the dedication and hard work of skilled workforce and creative mindsets.

At the opening ceremony of the Faruma International Youth Art Festival 2023, President Solih praised the participation of local talent and highlighted the importance of their work in building a skilled and productive workforce.

The Faruma International Youth Art Festival 2023 is a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment and the Local Artists' Community. The seven-day event, taking place from May 8 to 13, 2023, features the participation of over 80 talented artisans from eight different countries, including the Maldives.
