"We have identified a suspect and brought him into police custody," Police Spokesperson Ahmed Shifan stated on X, reposting footage of the theft shared by Male' City Council.
Male' City Council said yesterday that over a span of three nights, a total of seven fans have been stolen from Taqwa Mosque, which is located in a small lane off Kalhu Huraa Magu.
They shared CCTV footage of the theft in progress on social media.
Last week, two fans affixed on the walls of Dharumavantha Mosque have also been stolen.
Dedicated women's ablution areas in Viyafaariveringe Mosque and Bandaara Mosque were also vandalized this Ramadan.
All these issues have been reported to police.
Statistics published by the Police show that by the 15th of Ramadan, 110 cases of theft and robbery were reported in Male' area alone.
