Fushifaru Maldives was crowned Maldives' Leading Beach Resort at the 26th World Travel Awards (WTA) 2019.
A cocktail party was hosted by the resort on its premises, in celebration of the achievement. The trophy made a grand entrance, arriving at the beach on a jet ski, where it was received with a distinctly Maldivian reception.
“Winning the award is an outstanding affirmation of the trust our guests place in our personalized services and serve as positive motivation for us to continue raising the bar in being the resort of choice for leisure travellers.", said General Manager Ahmed Siaar.
Fushifaru was nominated in addition to six resorts, which include aaaVeee Nature's Paradise, Diamonds Thudufushi, Dusit Thani Maldives, JA Manafaru, Soneva Fushi and The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Maldives.
Diamonds Thudufushi won the 2018 instalment of the award.
The World Travel Awards was launched in 1993 to celebrate excellence across all areas of tourism worldwide. The WTA galas are attended by the industry elite, including government leaders and international media.
