UNDP Maldives extends deadline of their second solutions mapping exercise “Neitha Halleh?” seeking local solutions sustainable tourism the nation faces to Thursday.

“Neitha Halleh?”, meaning “(do you) have a solution?” is a solution mapping initiative launched to document existing challenges the community faces and what are the obstacles that prevent further development.

The organization had launched a second solutions mapping exercise on World Tourism Day, focusing on tourism solutions when the ongoing pandemic has greatly shifted how the industry works. Earlier this year, they had launched a similar exercise with a focus on sustainable development.

The solutions mapping exercise is not a competition and the UNDP Maldives Accelerator Lab will not be evaluating any of the solutions, but rather bring to attention any innovative ideas that need to be brought forward.

UNDP Maldives encourages anyone with a sustainable tourism solution to send it to https://bit.ly/FathuruveshikanEng by the end of Thursday. A solution could be a product, service offer, business model, policy, organizing principle or even a community practice.

“ This includes solutions that deliver equitable benefits from tourism to local communities and the environment,” UNDP Maldives said in their press release.

The first solutions mapping exercise launched this year received 16 solutions and UNDP Maldives have featured some of them with an existing working prototype on their website. They include a digital repository called Majalla.com that documents old Maldivian documents and magazines, and an online financial solutions platform called Laari Koba?
