Smoke exhaust pipe leak in cafe' leads to seven hospitalizations

Leak from a smoke exhaust pipe in a cafe' in Male' during the early hours of this morning has led to seven people being hospitalized for treatment.

The incident occurred at a cafe' located in Bodurasgefaanu Magu in Male' City.

Police stated that smoke had leaked from the exhaust pipe into the kitchen, leading to seven people in the room losing consciousness due to the effects of smoke. All seven were immediately taken to IGMH for treatment.

These seven individuals include a Sri Lankan, an Indian, two Bangladeshi persons, and three Nepali persons.

One of these individuals have since been transferred to ADK Hospital, and is receiving further treatment, Police said.

However, citing hospital sources, Police confirmed that none of the individuals suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Further details of the incident have not been revealed, and Police have said that they are investigating the incident further.
