Majority of complaints regarding deceased individuals included in voters' list: EC

The Elections Commission (EC) has received a total of 27 complaints related to the voters list for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for September 9.

The provisional list of eligible voters for the upcoming presidential election contains a total of 282,755 names, according to the commission. The deadline for submitting complaints regarding the list, which was released on May 2, is open until June 2.

Election Commission Vice President Ismail Habeeb told Mihaaru News that out of the 27 complaints received by the commission, 21 of them were filed due to the inclusion of names of deceased individuals in the voters list.

- Three complaints regarding absence of names in the list

- Two complaints regarding a change of address

- One complaint regarding the inclusion of a minor

A total of 144,408 men and 138,347 women will be eligible to vote in this years presidential elections.

According to the EC if a second round of the presidential election is necessary, it will be held on September 30.
