The third largest record label in the world, US-based Warner Music, has acquired the distribution rights to Manta Air’s theme song, "Wind Walker," performed by local band The Kabans.
This is the first time Warner Music has acquired the rights to a local song.
The band, with Maldivian Idol winner Mariyam Maeesha, performed the domestic airline's theme song, which was produced by Ahmed Faizan and written by Naufal Naseem.
The Kabans is currently working on their first studio album, which will also be distributed by Warner Music.
Band member Ahmed "Kokko" Arshad said this was a remarkable achievement for the band and that it was the culmination of their dedication.
"This is an opportunity of a lifetime! We couldn’t be more excited about this! It’s been a long journey to get here, but we know that this is only the beginning. We are looking forward to taking our music to the next level and making the world our audience. A special thanks goes out to Manta Air and Pulse Hotels for believing in us and opening this fantastic opportunity for us," Arshad said.
Speaking about this achievement, Shafraz Hafiz, the Director of Digital Technology and Marketing of Pulse Hotels and Resorts said that the collaboration with Manta Air aimed to create a wide range of opportunities for local talents in the Maldives.
Shafraz further said that the hotel brand has always worked to promote local talent and help take them to the international arena.
The Kabans was also the local band selected this year to perform at the ITB fair, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from March 7–8.
