A 42-year-old man, on Monday, suffered a fractured skull when a wooden plank fell from a construction site.

The 42-year-old man suffered a two-inch wide fracture upon being hit by the wooden plank that fell from a building near State Trading Organization (STO)'s Head Office.

He was treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

In an interview given to local media Mihaaru, while describing the incident, the victim revealed that the wooden plank was approximately 3 - 4 feet in length and that he was walking towards his motorcycle when he was struck by the plank.

He speculated that construction was on halt at the time, as there were no workers or warning boards. Furthermore, he mentioned that the netting around the building was torn in certain places.

Recently, a 9-year-old girl passed away when a cement bag fell on top of her atop a construction site, in December 2018.

Following the girl's passing, Male City Council and Ministry of Housing and Urban Development conducted a program to inspect construction sites in Male.
