Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced that the bank will be providing services as usual on Wednesday despite it being a government holiday.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared Wednesday a government holiday, with schools and government offices closed, due to the heavy rains and flooding across the country.
BML said that despite it having been declared a holiday, the central bank Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has instructed banks to remain open. As such, BML will be providing services through out the day as it does on regular days.
The current stormy weather conditions have resulted in flooding and damage across many islands of Maldives.
Meanwhile, MET Office has predicted stormy weather for the upcoming five days as well.
