Large crowds gathered to welcome President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on his arrival in Addu yesterday afternoon.

The President travelled to Hithadhoo in Addu atoll after completing his trip to Laamu atoll. Hithadhoo is the most populated island in Addu and the President visited this island yesterday as he had not earlier gone there during last month's official trip to the atoll.

Contrary to his last trip, he was greeted by a long row of residents upon his arrival in Gan Airport yesterday. Leading the welcoming entourage was Addu Mayor Ali Nizar and Feydhoo-born Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan.

Many of those gathered shared sentiments appreciating this government's development projects being conducted in the atoll. Celebrating the President's visit, many residents asked for selfies and photos with the leader.

Candidates running for the upcoming parliamentary election were also amongst those gathered to welcome the President.

In his initial official visit to Addu, the President had contracted the Hithadhoo-Hulhumeedhoo Bridge Project to Egypt's The Arab Contractors. The President asserts that the bridge will be completed and open for use within this term.

He also introduced the Addu Coastal Tourism Development Program, through which 6000 tourism beds, and 10,000 employment opportunities will be introduced.

The President assured that he will bring an end to the neglect faced by Addu during previous governments and ensure that the atoll sees abundant development within his term in office.
