COVID-19: Maldives records 328 new cases, 112 recoveries

On Tuesday, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced that 328 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives, while 112 recovered from the disease.

According to the agency, of the new cases, 167 were from the greater Male’ region, 127 cases from residential islands, 10 cases from operational resorts and 24 cases from industrial islands.

Currently, the island nation records a total of 28,202 virus cases of which 3,710 are active cases, in addition to 24,421recoveries and 71 deaths.

On March 12, 2020, WHO classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. To date, the new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 148 million people and claimed over 3.1 million lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 126.5 million people have recovered.
