Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen, on Thursday, inaugurated dental services in the Noonu Atoll Hospital.
Highlighting that dental problems were common within the Maldivian population, the health ministry stated that benefits of the newly introduced services would extend to all citizens of Noonu Atoll instead of only Manadhoo where the hospital is located.
The ministry stressed that the services would eliminate the need for patients to travel to the capital city of Male' for medical treatment.
Manadhoo has a population of 2000 while a total of 15,000 people live in Noonu Atoll.
Prior to the introduction of the services in the Noonu Atoll Hospital, the availability of dental care in northern Maldives was severely limited.
