Parliamentarian for Addu's Maradhoo constituency Ibrahim Shareef, on Wednesday, was removed from an ongoing parliamentary session for insubordination.

Reportedly, Shareef was raising his voice and causing a disruption while Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed announced the agenda at the beginning of the session.

Initially, the parliament speaker and former president requested the Maradhoo MP to follow parliamentary regulations. After Shareef failed to adhere to the instruction despite repeated requests, Nasheed requested that the MP leave the session.

When the parliamentarian refused to leave on his own accord, Speaker Nasheed then instructed the sergeant-at-arms to escort Shareef out of the chambers.

Following Shareef's removal from the session, Speaker Nasheed revealed that a dispute had taken place between the Maradhoo MP and representative of Faafu Atoll's Bilehdhoo constituency Ahmed Haleem.

Throughout the argument, the latter remained seated while Shareef approached his seat.

According to Nasheed, the disagreement concerned his controversial resignation from presidency on February 7, 2012, which the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) maintains was a coup.

MP Haleem left his seat and exited the chamber of his own volition when Shareef was removed from the session.
