'oneGov', a one stop online platform for many government services in the Maldives, has celebrated one year of service.

A special ceremony was held last Monday to mark the occasion with Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan as well as other ministry employees and partner agencies in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Minister Ihusan highlighted the importance of digitalising government services and praised oneGov's achievements so far.

He also stressed on the importance of public receiving a quality service that matches the fees they pay, and added that the speed and quality of service provided needs to be improved to match the people's demand - something which oneGov already plays an important role in.

Ihusan also assured the government's full cooperation and to expand and strengthen the platform's services. However, achieving this would require significant changes to the government's policies, he said, adding that the work is already in progress in collaboration with National Center for Information Technology (NCIT).

Plan to expand oneGov's services include:

- Reducing the existing challenges in application submission

- Provide all government services via the platform

- Provide all document submission and payment transaction services via the platform

- Establish a system to send notifications of services and renewals

- Improve customer services

- Make oneGov financially independent
