25 Percent of the MVR 100 million loan for women entrepreneurs allocated for those with special needs

Minister Saeed said that 25 percent of loans dedicated to women entrepreneurs will be allocated for those with special needs and vowed to find solutions for some difficulties faced by the special needs community.

During the public forum of Ministers, "Ahaa," held on January 25, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed mentioned that 25 percent of the loans program initiated by the State to empower women and encourage their participation in the business industry will be allocated for those with special needs.

Additionally, Social and Family Development Minister, Dr. Aishath Shiham said this week that the MVR 100 million loan allocated for women entrepreneurs will begin being issued very soon and added that a loan providing financial aid to small businesses will also be introduced shortly.

"Moreover, I assure you that the President will fulfill two important pledges to enable women to lead fulfilling and dignified lives. As such, the MVR 100 million loans reserved for women will start being issued very soon," she said during the ceremony held to inaugurate the "Hiyala Weekend Market," a dedicated market area where women entrepreneurs display and sell their original work.

The general concern raised by individuals with special needs during the public forum with five cabinet ministers focused on the infrastructure of buildings and the challenges faced in accessing buildings and mosques. Their discussions highlighted the lack of an accommodating system for people with special needs to enter and exit such locations easily.

The ministers who took part in the forum committed to finding solutions to for this issue.

Minister Saeed said that issuing loans for small and medium-sized enterprises is an important part of the government's "Week 14" roadmap.

He said that efforts are underway to facilitate the disbursement of loans allocated for small businesses in collaboration with foreign institutes. He said that this initiative includes the issuance of loans for women entrepreneurs, and efforts are being made to secure loans for small businesses through under this initiative as well.

"This means that young entrepreneurs will have many opportunities to engage in innovative work. Resources for various aspects such as financial, technological, and innovation have been established,” he said.

Minister Saeed said that the government is also planning to introduce a special financial scheme for "content creation," which includes short films and video clips.

“President Dr. Mohamed Muizz has the intention to provide additional opportunities for the youth and those new to business to establish a creative industry and a creator economy,” he said.
