Aasandha and subsidies must incur changes to reduce excessive spending: Shujau

Member of the parliament's Public Accounts Committee, MP Ibrahim Shujau has reiterated that the country is in great financial distress and emphasized that provision of Aasandha insurance and policies for issuing subsidies must incur changes in order reduce government expenditure.

Speaking during the ceremony held last night at the new hub opened by ruling party, People's National Congress, Parliamentarian of the Baarah Constituency stated that there is work that must be undertaken to secure the country for the coming generations and one of them is reducing excessive spending of the government. He said that Aasandha must be limited to rightful recipients within this and subsidies must also be altered to allow provision solely to recipients in need of them.

"Will not do anything with deception. The state of the country today is that we are people who spend needlessly. In review, Aasandha. The biggest complaint received is that Aasandha is being exploited," said Shujau.

Affirming that the parliament is consequently working to alter regulations in order to allow provision of Aasandha and subsidies solely to recipients who are in actual need of them, he stated that this is also the vision of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. Shujau added that this is a sacrifice that must be made for the good of the country.

The parliamentarian reiterated that the former administration had left the country in great financial strife with state institutions also in disarray. He assured that this administration is making several efforts to overcome this distress.

"There are some some challenges we are facing because state companies were run in that state. However, by God's will, the success we are achieving after refusing to print money even during this distress is one that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is achieving with your [citizens'] support and approval." said Shujau.

He affirmed that the government will transparently move forward alongside the challenges posed by the state debt and assured that the government will request forgiveness from the citizens shall any misconduct arise at their hands.

"That is the vision the President holds, good is not the only thing that will be done in the process of running a government. We will also make mistakes, but after making a mistake, [we] need to address the people and admit our faults," said Shujau.

"The state's financial situation is not in a good place today. International financial agencies will also be gratified if we comply with their advice and proceed projects with reduced debt."
