Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has reduced the price of jet fuel at Velana International Airport (VIA).

According to MACL, the price of jet fuel for international and domestic flights will be reduced from January 1 onwards.

The new rate for domestic carriers will be USD 0.92033 (MVR 14.1) per litre, and USD 0.91113 (MVR 14) for international carriers. This is a drop of 7.50 percent for domestic flights and 6.91 percent drop for international flights.

MACL expressed that the airlines operating in VIA will benefit from the reduced rates.

The company had reduced jet fuel prices in July 2017 as well.

The most recent drop in jet fuel rates has come amidst the government's efforts to reduce the market price for domestic flights.
