The Maldives government has condemned last night's attack perpetrated by Israel on Gaza's Al-Ahli hospital, where thousands of Palestinian civilians had congregated to seek shelter and medical aid following intense bombardment, as being inhumane and brutal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a statement today in which the government condemns the killing of hundreds of innocent Palestinians.

"Attacks on hospitals and civilian infrastructures, targeting civilians are unacceptable and are in explicit contravention of international humanitarian law," the statement read.

The government reiterated its call on the international community to use all possible means to bring to an end the remorseless attacks on innocent Palestinians.

The statement also called to expedite the opening of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the delivery of medicine, food supplies and other basic necessities to the Gaza Strip.

The Health Ministry of Palestine has announced that as of now, there is a count of 500 deaths caused by the air strike on Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza. A school being used by the UN as a shelter for Palestinians was also severely affected in the attack.

Palestine's Defense Ministry described last night's attack on the hospital as the most heinous attack yet from Israel since 2008.

Israel Army initially claimed that the Palestine's Islamist Jihad group was behind last night's attack. The Islamist Jihad has since denied these allegations.
