Allied Insurance has gifted 100 helmets to Maldives Police Service as part of its anniversary celebration.

The helmets were gifted during a ceremony held at the Allied head office on Monday.

The insurance provider gifted the helmets under the “Rakkaa” (Safety) initiative, to be distributed as part of the company's largest campaign in collaboration with Maldives Police.

Speaking at the ceremony, Allied Insurance General Manager Ibrahim Firushan said the "Rakkaa" program is an important part of the company’s CSR initiatives to ensure road safety and security.

He had also announced a special promotion to be launched by the company in connection with the anniversary.

In conjunction with the anniversary, the first 145 customers who take out the company's motor comprehensive insurance will be given a helmet starting from Wednesday. The insurance can also be purchased directly through Allied or Allied's Islamic window, Ayady Takaful.

"Motor comprehensive insurance is a third party protection policy that covers the driver and the vehicle in the event of an accident. The policy also covers damages in the event of a natural disaster or fire. People usually take out third party insurance because the law requires it. However, insurance covers the damage an individual causes to others in the event of an accident. It doesn't cover the individual," Firushan explained.

A motor comprehensive policy insurance is available for all road vehicles, and it covers theft as well.

At the function, Chief Inspector of Police Ahmed Faseeh noted the assistance provided by Allied under the Rakkaa program. He mentioned the company's assistance in participating in police programs and making videos and billboards. The helmets donated by Allied will be given as a part of the law enforcement authority’s efforts to create public awareness on road safety.

Allied Insurance and Maldives Police Service jointly began their public awareness initiative in 2015. The initiative so far has been conducted for students, parents, and employees of public sector offices.

Faseeh also claimed over 30 different programs were conducted last year under ‘Rakkaa’ initiative; which attracted more than 20,000 participants.
