Maldives Meteorological Service reports the current weather conditions will likely prevail across the country, with the exception of the northern parts.

The authority has issued a white alert from Kaafu atoll to Addu Atoll, claiming poor weather conditions including heavy rainfall, strong gusts and rough seas are expected.

MET issued the white alert effective on Tuesday, July 19 from 04:30pm until 10:30pm.

Wind speeds will reportedly stay between ten to 20 miles per hour from west or northwesterly direction while gusts may pick up speed to 45 miles per hour during showers.

Seas are expected to be moderately rough everywhere in the country, with wave heights expected to range between four to six feet.

The authority forecasts the conditions to continue into Wednesday as well while northern areas will likely experience torrential rain followed by thunder and lightning.

Central and southern parts of Maldives will reportedly experience rainfall for the next 24 hours, with thunder and lightning expected in parts of central atolls.

The island nation is currently experiencing its southwest monsoon (wet-season).
