The names of appointees to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's cabinet have been submitted to Parliament for approval.
The President's Office stated that they have submitted the names for approval today, in accordance with Article 129 of the Constitution.
The Cabinet of Ministers also took their oath of office on the day of the Presidential Inauguration.
While the names have been submitted to parliament, the list includes former parliamentarians who left the legislative to serve in President Muizzu's cabinet. This now leaves only five ruling party coalition MPs in parliament.
President's Office Public Policy Undersecretary said in the office's first press conference that they are confident they will receive the cooperation of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), which holds parliamentary majority right now.
Parliament Speaker Mohamed Aslam has also stated during the presidential inauguration that they will extend cooperation to the new administration.
