Maldives placed fifth after beating Tajikistan.
Maldives has won over Tajikistan in the CAVA Volleyball Challenge Cup's ranking match yesterday.
Maldives won the match with 3-1 sets. Maldives won the first two sets with 25-17 and 25-16 points while Tajikistan came up from behind and won the third match with a close call of 23-25 points. However, Maldives revived its winning streak in the final set, scoring 25-23 points.
With this, Maldives is now placed 5th in the ranking.
Maldives' Ismail Sajidh (Kuda Kaattey), Hussain Shamaal and middle blocker Fairooz Adam displayed standout performances.
Team captain Sajidh, who also delivered a high scoring performance of 20 points in yesterday's match, was named the events' best scorer.
In the six-team tournament, Maldives also beat Tajikistan in the round robbing round's final match with 3-1 sets. The set points for the match were 25-20, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22.
Maldives lost the first match of the tournament against Kyrgyzstan by three sets, and against Turkmenistan by 2-3 sets. Maldives also lost to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan with three sets.
Turkmenistan defeated Afghanistan in three sets directly in the bronze medal match yesterday. They took the sets with 25-23, 25-21 and 25-20 points.
In the final match, Kyrgyzstan took the championship title after defeating Uzbekistan with 28-26, 25-19 and 25-20 points.
