A police team has been dispatched to Noonu atoll Holhudhoo to investigate the death of Zakiyya Moosa, a 50-year-old woman who was found with injuries on her body.
According to police, Zakiyya's body was discovered around 10:00 hrs by municipal workers who arrived at her home to collect garbage.
Zakiyya was transported to the Holhudhoo Health Center, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival, police said.

A local resident, speaking with Mihaaru News, revealed that Zakiyya was found near a storeroom adjacent to the kitchen area of her home, with a large knife nearby and a severe gash on her neck.
Zakiyya’s family is considered well off. Her husband owns a fishing vessel and is involved in contract work on the island.
Zakiyya is survived by her husband and two sons. One son lives in Male', while the other lives in the same house with his wife and child.
