Maldives Airports Company Limited has said that they are facing some flight delays due to difficulties in landing in the current heavy rains and strong winds.
An MACL official said that while today is expected to be a high traffic day at the airport, some flights were delayed in the morning due to a squall.
"One flight landed in Trivandrum. It couldn't land here due to low visibility caused by the squall," they said.
The MET Office has meanwhile issued a Yellow Alert until 3pm from Kaafu atoll to Thaa atoll, with heavy rains and thunderstorms expected. Wind speeds are predicted to be at 45 mph.
The MET Office has previously said that the current adverse weather conditions will last through Sunday.
