Former President Mohamed Nasheed officially met the newly appointed Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed, on Wednesday.
No further information has been revealed about the meeting held in the office of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the largest political party in the ruling coalition.
Ali Waheed, who is also the vice-president of Jumhooree Party (JP), came under heavy criticism following his appointment to the Cabinet of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Critics have called on the parliament to withhold approval for Ali Waheed in addition to other cabinet ministers representing JP, including Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen, Minister of Communication Science and Technology Maleeh Jamal, and Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula.
The Cabinet was formed according to proportions agreed between President Solih and the leaders of the coalition parties prior to his electoral win. MDP forms 40 percent of the cabinet, JP forms 25 percent, while Adhaalath Party received 15 percent and the faction of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom represents 20 percent.
