MTCC: Bus services will be free for students and elderly

Students and elderly citizens will not be charged to use the mini-bus transportation service in Greater Male' area and other islands, says Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The company's Managing Director Mr. Adam Azim commented on facilitating free-of-charge public transportation services for students and people with special needs through the Raajje-Transport Link (RTL) operation in the area.

"School students (in uniforms), elderly citizens; aged 65 and above as well as people with special needs will not be charged for fare from the service," Azim affirmed.

Earlier, MTCC had brought a total of 36 mini-buses out of which 12 will be put to operation in Greater Male' area. The company is rapidly gearing up to launch the service soon.

The mini-bus service under RTL will launch in Male' region as well as in Fuvahmulah City, Laamu atoll and Addu City. Buses already brought by MTCC in the first batch, are currently being prepared to be shipped to the designated areas.

MTCC's front man affirms facilitating frequent bus rides, with bus trips scheduled for every ten minutes at several planned bus stops.
