Vice President Hussein Mohamed Latheef is set to receive the finishing medal for Nasrullah Ahmed’s 95th marathon, completed by him in the Anatolia Marathon held last Sunday in Turkey.

Nasrullah, who aims to achieve his 100th marathon milestone this year, expressed his intention to dedicate his 95th marathon medal to the Vice President.

"It's a pre-decided decision. To dedicate the 95th marathon medal to someone who is the vice-president of the country," said Nasrullah, an MNDF employee.

Nasrulla, who also has close familial ties with Vice President Hussein Mohamed Latheef, said that the medal presentation ceremony will be organized through MNDF.

In 2022, Former Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi was presented with Nasrullah's 80th marathon medal.

For Nasrulla, who began his marathon career as early as 1999, the most remarkable year was in 2018, when he participated in 13 marathons, finishing all of them four hours ahead of schedule. Among his significant achievements was securing the first position in the Hindustan Marathon in India in 2020.

For his 100th marathon, Nasru aims to either do it in Tokyo or London. Nasrullah, also a coach for long-distance runners, has offered to provide marathon training to fellow Maldivians willing to join him in the 100th marathon.

The country's marathon and half-marathon records for both women and men are held by athletes coached by Nasrullah. Yusuf Ibrahim broke the country's marathon record at the Anatolia Marathon on Sunday. He also holds the men's half marathon record. Another of Nasrullah's coached runners, Shamha Ahmed, maintains the country's records for both the marathon and half-marathon.
