The threats read that Channel 13 will not be 'given the opportunity to spread discord' and went on to threaten to set fire to RaajjeTV premises.
In a statement released on Tuesday night by the President's Office, the government assured that they would remain dedicated towards protecting journalists. The statement called on anyone with knowledge about those making threats to prioritize national interest and report the matter to police without hesitation or delay.
Police have started investigations into the matter, and the President's Office assured in last night's statement that Police will make use of their full resources and capabilities to identify those behind these threats.
"This government will always uphold the policy of listening to journalists, promoting the work of media, and making space for responsible journalism and information dissemination," the statement read.
Police have also said that they consider threats against person's lives and property as serious offences and will conduct extensive investigations into such cases.
Police said that the matter is being investigated collaboratively by the Cyber Crime Department and the Serious Organized Crime Department.
