National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) provided 16 individuals with temporary housing following a house fire in capital city Male'.
As per NDMA, the house sustained substantial damages after a mattress caught fire on the sixth storey terrace of the house, adding that efforts to control the fire caused a power outage as well. No one was injured during the incident.
NDMA will provide housing and daily food expenses for the 16.
Maldives Police Service explained that the fire broke out as a result of a welding spark from the adjacent building.
The fire was reported at 1111 hrs. Maldives National Defence Force controlled the fire by 1135 hrs.
