MNDF has said that as of now, a large area around the sandbank to the south of Kaafu atoll Huvafenfushi has been searched in efforts to find Thasleem Mohamed, who went missing on Thursday after going to the sandbank.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that as of now, a large area around the sandbank to the south of Kaafu atoll Huvafenfushi has been searched in efforts to find Thasleem Mohamed, who went missing on Thursday after going to the sandbank.
He remains missing, with the search so far unsuccessful.
Thasleem, 43, of Maafannu Asaree Handhaan in Male' City had visited the sandbank with a group of people. He was last seen between 10:00 hrs and 11:00 hrs on Thursday.
MNDF said that Male' Area Coastguard is currently conducting a search for the missing man. 5000 sqft around the sandbank has been searched now, with 3000 sqft underwater around the sandbank searched through dives.
MNDF said that so far it has not been confirmed that the man went missing at sea, hence the search operation is being led by Police.
Police have asked anyone with any information about Thasleem, or any persons who have since visited the sandbank, to contact Himmafushi Police Station on 9794639.
