Elderly men lured to a Hiya flat and being looted!

Maldives Police Service has revealed that the agency is investigating a case of elderly men being lured to a Hiya flat in Hulhumalé Phase 2, where they are then looted.

A Police media official detailed that the men are invited to the Hiya apartment under various pretences by a young woman after meeting them. Once they enter the apartment, two to three men hiding in the apartment then lock the doors and video record the victims after they are made to remove their clothes, the official explained.

Under duress, they are then forced to give up all the money in their bank accounts.

Although it is suspected that there may be many victims, only a few cases have been reported to Police as of yet.

As such, Police urge the public to refrain from going to places with unknown strangers.
