Tourism industry employees will receive slots from the next housing project: President

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated that tourism industry workers will receive allocations from the next upcoming housing project, emphasizing the importance of youth sector, and assured that they will be consulted to determine the categories and point formats.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the flats distributed from the earliest upcoming housing projects will have a percentage specialized for employees of the tourism industry.

Establishing a special category for tourism industry workers in housing projects was a pledge made by the President Dr. Muizzu during his presidential campaign.

Thoha Hussein of Raa Atoll Meedhoo, Narugis has inquired of the president through the “President’s answer” program about the housing of tourism sector employees and about the state’s process of consulting the industry workers.

Responding to the question about housing, President Muizzu said that the industry workers will be provided housing flats from the Male’ region. In addition to this, he also said that they will be allocated a specific percentage of the housing projects conducted around the area of their employment.

“Then about timings; this will also be arranged through the housing unit project commenced at the earliest. We are making many efforts even now regarding this,” the president said.

He highlighted that he has hope that this development for tourism industry employees will be arranged within the year.

In response to the question inquiring about the state’s processes on consulting the industry workers, President Muizzu assured that the youth sector of the industry is a high priority of the government.

He remarked that what is required for the development of the industry are their ideas and deliberations and said that a framework has been passed regarding the distribution of flats through the social housing schemes to these employees.

The president said that based on the framework, categories and point criteria will be determined considering deliberations with employees working in various fields and associations of the tourism industry.
