Children over the age of 5 now eligible for Covid vaccine

Inoculation against Covid-19 for children aged five to 11 began on Tuesday.

Previously, the vaccine was given to people over the age of 12.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said in an announcement that the Pfizer vaccine for children is now available, thereby opening the vaccination process.

Children over the age of 12 are now receiving the third dose of the vaccine.

Pfizer vaccination sites in the Malé region

- Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH): Every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

- Hulhumalé Hospital: Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

- Dhamanaveshi: 1 p.m. to 3 pm every day except public holidays

HPA is urging people to complete their vaccination doses.

The number of Covid cases in the country has now dropped dramatically, with only eight people testing positive for Covid so far this month.

Of the vaccinated, 399,178 have received their first dose of the vaccine, and 385,099 have received their second dose. A total of 167,635 people received the first booster dose, while 1,523 people received the second booster dose.
