Telecommunications giant Ooredoo Maldives and the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, on Thursday, collaboratively introduced mobile plans for farmers which include free calls and messages as well as bonus data.

The agreement to introduce the mobile plan was signed by Ooredoo’s Director of Sales and Brand Hussain Niyaz and the agriculture ministry's Permanent Secretary Aminath Shafeega.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Zaha Waheed stated that the newly introduced packages would enable swift work and provide convenience to more than 7,000 farmers registered at the ministry.

Ooredoo's Director of Sales and Brand stated that farmers who subscribed to packages under the mobile plan would receive discounts on fertilizers and other agricultural products sold from shops in the capital city of Male’. The discounts will be given in addition to those granted to Ooredoo customers.

Additionally, information posted on the agriculture ministry’s website specifically for farmers can be viewed via the mobile plan.

Noting the success of packages introduced for fishermen in 2018, Niyaz expressed hopes that the mobile plan for farmers would be popular.

The telecom company stated that farmers registered at the ministry would be given information on the packages. Interested individuals can make inquiries by contacting Ooredoo Maldives.
