The facility is part of the effort to provide state care and support for domestic violence victims.
The government has purchased a 10,000 square foot plot in Hulhumale’ for MVR 31 million to establish a safe home for victims of domestic violence.
According to a Civil Court ruling, the land was sold by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) under an agreement with the Ministry of Social and Family Development and the Ministry of Finance.
The court stated that the Ministry of Finance is now the legal owner of the land, having paid the amount in full.
The facility is part of the effort to provide state care and support for domestic violence victims.
The facility will be developed under a 2022 agreement between Maldives and Asian Development Bank.
In addition to the safe home in Hulhumale’, similar facilities are also planned for Addu City and Raa atoll Ungoofaaru.
