The government has decided to cancel outstanding fines on water bills levied by Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC)
MWSC released a statement on Thursday, announcing that the new policy, will be effective from September 21 onwards. This policy fully cancels any outstanding water bill amounts due until then.
According to the company, the policy was designed to lighten the burden on customers who are financially struggling to pay their utility bills.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) had recently announced a similar policy cancelling fines for overdue rent payments for tenants of housing units in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale.
