Police have shut down two businesses for providing money exchange services without necessary licenses.

Police have shut down two businesses for providing money exchange services without necessary licenses.

Police said that the two businesses were shut down through a special operations conducted by Police Intelligence Department together with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

Police said in the first operation, conducted on September 3, a business by the name of 'Transfer Maldives' was shut down for exchanging dollars without permit.

Today, 'Kaashi Boat Souvenir' shop was inspected for conducting foreign currency transactions illegally without obtaining the necessary permits from Maldives Monetary Authority. Due to this, their permit for conducting business has been temporarily suspended.

Police said that other businesses were also inspected under these operations, with advice provided on bringing changes and improvements where necessary.
