Private company begins ferry services between southernmost atolls

Relax Speed, a private company based in Thoddoo, Alif Alif Atoll, commenced ferry services from Fuvahmulah and Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll to Addu Atoll in the south, for individuals seeking medical treatment.

The company will hold scheduled trips, in a speedboat of 60-persons capacity, every Monday and Thursday, following a route through Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll's Thinadhoo, Madaveli, Nadella, Rathafandhoo, Fiyoree, Faresmaathodaa and Vaadhoo.

The cost of travelling from the aforementioned islands to Addu Atoll costs between MVR 400 to 800, while a trip from Fuvahmulah to Addu Atoll costs MVR 300.

Owner of Relax Speed Ali Risaan told local media Mihaaru that people were very enthusiastic about the travelling opportunity. He stated that the company commenced ferry services as many people in the region, who require healthcare, seeks to travel to the tertiary level hospital in Addu Atoll.

Addu Equitorial Hospital (AEH), which was inaugurated on January 15, 2020, is the only tertiary hospital operating outside the capital Greater Male' area in Maldives.
