Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu said that textbooks have been provided to all schools across the Maldives and it has been distributed to students as well.
The Ministry of Education has announced that textbooks have been provided to every school across the Maldives, ensuring that students receive all necessary materials.
Parents had raised concerns about not receiving all the necessary textbooks, even as the new academic year began last Sunday.
When asked about the reason behind the delay, Minister of Education, Dr Ismail Shafeeu said that even this year, many students had transferred from one school to the another.
"Some schools receiving more books and others receiving fewer books due to student movement is a common occurrence. This time, a similar situation is likely to occur, although it is rare," the Minister said.
However, textbooks have been provided to all schools, and they have been distributed to students as well, he said.
This academic year began with 96,000 students. This includes 40,300 girls and 42,700 boys.
The Ministry said that 83,000 students are enrolled in 217 government schools, out of which about 17,000 are in Male' area schools. Over 13,000 students are enrolled in private schools from lower kindergarten to Grade 12. Of these, more than 9,000 are in the Male' area.
