Award named after late Visham to honor young lawyers

The Bar Council has announced a special award in memory of the late Ismail Visham, who served as its President until his sudden passing. The award is intended to recognize and honor young lawyers for their contributions and achievements.

The Bar Council made this decision during its annual general meeting on Wednesday.

The council said that Visham had a special interest in the development of newcomers to the legal field and actively worked with them to provide training and support.

The council decided to introduce an award named "Ismail Visham Up-and-Coming Lawyer" in honor of Visham's dedication to develop young lawyers.

The Bar Council also honored Visham with its highest recognition award, the "Extraordinary Service Award."

Visham passed away suddenly on January 31.

He was appointed President of the Bar Council in June 2022.
