Four individuals arrested in connection with Friday night's clash between two groups in Hithadhoo, Addu City, have been remanded to judicial custody.
Yesterday, four local youths, aged 18, 19, 20, and 23, were taken into custody in connection with the case.
According to the police, they were brought before the Hithadhoo Magistrate Court, where they were remanded to judicial custody until the end of the trial.
During the altercation, a 30-year-old local man was attacked with a sharp object. According to the police, the injured man is currently receiving treatment at Addu Equatorial Hospital, and his condition is reported to be serious.
While some arrests were made in connection with the previous violence, another incident occurred in Addu yesterday. The attack transpired when assailants broke into a residence and stabbed an individual, resulting in injuries to a 20-year-old local man.
Recently, there have been incidents of violence in Malé as well. Although no one has been seriously injured in the violence in Malé City, three youths have been arrested in connection with the cases.
The police have initiated a special operation to enforce security measures in response to increased gang violence in both Malé City and Addu City.
