The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has chosen to keep the details of the electoral committee, responsible for overseeing FAM elections, confidential.
Known for a tendency to withhold information, FAM has previously refrained from disclosing the salaries of appointed coaches and technical directors, as well as keeping congress meetings undisclosed.
It has been revealed that the electoral committee consists of three members. However, FAM's General Secretary, Mohamed Jaushan Shareef, declined to reveal their names, citing current circumstances as a reason for confidentiality.
In response to concerns raised by Sports Commissioner Mohamed Tholal, who identified questionable issues surrounding the elections scheduled for January 31, the Sports Commissioner's Office has directed FAM to suspend the election process.
The Sports Commissioner's Office has ordered halting the election process until a decision is reached after consultations with FIFA, AFC, and the Olympic committee. The directive to call off the election process came after Mahibadhoo MP Ahmed Thorig (Tom) and Bassam's Exco member Mufabiz Hashim also filed their nominations.
