The President’s Office announced today that 138 individuals will receive the National Award for Public Service this year.

The National Awards Committee, appointed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, selected the recipients from among the nominees.

“These 138 persons include 70 individuals who have served the state for more than 43 years and who have been referred by the President to the National Awards Committee,” the President's Office stated.

The award will be presented at an official ceremony at the Social Center on July 26, Friday night, in celebration of Independence Day.

The award is given to individuals who have worked for over 35 years in a government office, state-owned enterprise, or a company where the majority share is held by the government. It recognizes their competent and sincere service in performing their duties and contributing to the development of their institutions.

The President will award a shield, a badge of honor, and a certificate for their service to the government.

The National Award for Public Service was first introduced by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in 2021.
