Even though the police did not disclose further information regarding this case other than the fact they were searching for man involved in a case of public nuisance, it has been confirmed that this man was being searched for with a court order on accounts of vandalising walls with "India Out" slogans.

Abdul-Gafaar Abdul-Gafoor, 34, from Male' was being searched for this crime.

The Parliament's National Security Council has declared the opposition's "India Out" movement calling for the deployment of Indian military personnel in the Maldives as a threat to national security.

In a resolution issued by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on this matter, he said that it is clear that the event meant to incite hatred towards India has become a threat to national security. He said that it undermines peace and domestic stability in different parts of the country and also undermines regional security. Police have been taking down banners drawn with the "India Out" slogan. They are currently investigating four people in relation to these cases.

Even though owners of the residences where the banners were drawn have been summoned to the police, none of them have been arrested yet.
