Faarufushi Maldives welcomes first guests

Faarufushi Maldives, a new luxury resort located in Raa Atoll, welcomed its first guests on March 7.

The first guests were greeted in a traditional ceremony of boduberu, a native form of music and dance.

Faarufushi feautures distinct, minimalist architecture and authentic cultural experiences.

The 80-villa holiday destination is a 50-minute seaplane trip from Velana International Airport (VIA). Alternatively, guests may take a 40-minute flight from VIA to Ifuru Airport, from which Faarufushi can be reached within 10 minutes by speedboat.

Villas with views

The villas, either perched on the beach or built over the water, are designed to be sleek, modern and relaxing.

Several luxuries including espresso machines and spacious wardrobes are installed in the villas with seventy having their own private plunge pool with an ocean view.

Private decks come with sun loungers and day beds while Beach Bungalows are built with a private outdoor rainforest-inspired shower and bathtub.

Range of dining options

Fushishifaru has numerous dining experiences with three restaurants and two bars, Sangu and Boli.

Iru offers an extensive breakfast buffet and a la carte options in its restaurant, which has an ocean view and an alfresco set-up.

Eclipse, facing Faarufushi’s lagoon, serves Euro-Asian dishes. Guests may enjoy drinks at Boli, which is located at the furthest tip of Eclipse.

Spanish and Mediterranean dishes are served in Athiri, Faarufushi’s beachside gathering spot where the water sports centre, marine centre and gym are situated.

Nika Spa

The island’s Spa has a range of facilities including massage huts, a steam room, relaxation areas, a yoga pavilion, and manicure and pedicure stations.

In addition to offering treatments, the spa is known for its contemporary architecture which blends with the natural surroundings.

Adventure awaits

Faarufushi has a fully-equipped water sports centre at Athiri and a world-class PADI dive centre.

Guests at Faarufushi have the options of paddleboarding around the island, snorkelling, learning to surf, island hopping, having private picnics on a deserted island, wakeboarding, water skiing or deep sea fishing.

The resident marine biologist can provide information regarding turtles, spotted eagle rays, sharks and other sea life found in Raa Atoll.
