Male' City Council has begun the removal of wooden pallets placed illegally in different areas of the city.

A large number of wooden pallets being placed in parking spaces on Male' City roads has become a major public concern.

Male' City Council Media Official Aminath Shathufa told 'Mihaaru News' that while the removal of pallets had begun yesterday, it is not yet clear how many pallets have been removed so far.

She said that in some locations, it is difficult to access homes and shops due to vehicles being parked close together. So, there will be pallets in these locations until ramps are set up, she said.

However, Shathufa added that some individuals place wooden pallets on the streets to reserve parking spaces in advance. Under the ongoing initiative, such pallets blocking parking spaces and damaged ones will also be removed, she said.

In a post on social on X by Male' City Council, pallets placed on the streets of the MPL area are photographed being picked up and loaded onto the council's pickup.
