The camp provided visitors with medical screening, therapy and awareness sessions.

The team that delivered the sessions included local and foreign specialists including speech and hearing therapists, occupational and behavior therapists, dentists, pediatric orthopedic therapists and physiotherapists.

A special ceremony and inclusive sports evening was held to inaugurate the country's first National Paralympic Day. The activities were inaugurated by the Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City Mohamed Athif.

Speaking at the event, MAPD Chairperson Ahmed Mohamed said that the special sports festivals hosted by Dhiraagu since 2011 played an important role in providing a platform for persons with disabilities.

“With the establishment of the Maldives Paralympic Committee, some of the children who have been regular participants in the Dhiraagu Special Sports Festival for many years have gained confidence to participate in international Paralympic sports,” Ahmed said.

Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Dhiraagu, Bishaara Hameed said the company was pleased to support the event held in Kulhudhuffushi City.

She said that priority should be given to conduct such CSR programs that empower communities and involve everyone in the society.
