Bank of Maldives (BML), on Monday, announced the donation of educational tools to 10 islands to aid students with special education needs (SEN).
Donations were granted to Kelaa School, Ihavandhoo School, Shaviyani Milandhoo School, Noonu Atoll School, Maafushi School, Thoddoo School, Thaa Atoll School, Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo Aboobakuru School, Fuvahmulak Hafiz Ahmed School and Hithadhoo Sharafudheen School.
Highlighting that the lack of proper tools was the main obstacle to providing adequate education to SEN students, BML stated that the donations would reach 300 children with special needs.
“We are pleased to support these 300 students with this donation. The tools are carefully selected in consideration of their individual educational needs which aims to develop their capabilities, their independence and social participation. We thank the schools for their continuous support and cooperation”, stated BML’s Manager of Public Relations Mohamed Saeed.
Till date, BML has supported 140 projects in 20 islands as part of the bank's ‘Aharenge Bank Community Fund’, a nationwide campaign to empower individuals to contribute to the society by conducting sustainable community projects.
These projects include the donation of motorized wheelchairs for people living with physical disabilities, promoting youth development in the field of sports and supporting projects run by NGOs.
The bank has contributed MVR 1 million to facilitate ‘Aharenge Bank Community Fund’ projects.
