“What is most essential for this island is housing. In order to achieve housing, the government will highly prioritize the development of a plan for Holhumeedhoo that remains under your jurisdiction as an extension of Holhudhoo and establish all essential infrastructure required for the island. Alongside establishing a water and sewerage system and developing the roads, everything will be done during the progress ” said the President in addressing the residential community of Holhudhoo.

The island of Holhudhoo that accommodates a population of over 2000 people is now facing land scarcity with no remaining space for land reclamation.

“I am stating that I will provide all your [the people of Holhudhoo] needs for the long-term development of this island,” said the President.

Holhudhoo is a remarkable island in terms of education as well. The island’s education center, Meyna School, is within the country’s four schools that has been in operation for over 75 years.
