Minister of Education Aishath Ali, on Wednesday, attended the 40th UNESCO General Conference in Paris, France.
Held at the UNESCO Headquarters from November 12 till November 27, the two-week conference hosts delegations from 193 countries and aims to turn UNESCO into a "laboratory of ideas where multiculturalism in action will be seen from the meeting rooms to the corridors of the organization."
The Education Minister is slated to address the conference during the General Policy Debate on Friday.
Contesting for a seat on the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme (BAM), Minister Dr Aishath plans to lobby for Maldives at the conference.
The 2019 theme for the biannual conference is ‘(Re)generation, the role of young people in shaping the global agenda for peace'.
The Chairperson of the Maldives National Commission for UNESCO, Dr Aishath is accompanied by State Minister for Education Fathimath Naseer and Secretary General for the National Commission Ahmed Mausoom.
The delegation is slated to return on November 18.
